RSPB Go Wild Autumn

RSPB Autumn Government....

** RSPB Go Wild Important Information **

We are extremely sorry and disappointed that after this evenings announcement it is inevitable that the RSPB event will not go ahead next weekend. Emails will be sent individually to all entrants with their options, once we have met with our partners at the RSPB – expect to hear from us by Monday evening at the latest.

We have had to make this decision in the light of the new restrictions and also with the safety of all the participants in mind along with us as event organisers. We are all family people and we have to look after our families along with the the safety of all of you as participants on the day.

Please if you have any urgent questions can you direct message us and we will reply as soon as we can but as stated above we will get out all relevant information and options to you by the latest of Monday evening.

RSPB Suffolk Go Wild Format Change to a Rallye Event!!

We have had to make the decision to change the format for the RSPB Suffolk Go Wild Autumn Event, taking place on 8th November. The new format will be in the style of our Rallye Events we held in the summer.  This means you can start and finish wherever you want along our signposted course and visit us at the HQ for your mid-way lunch stop. The routes will still be fully signposted so you can follow our specially designed and risk assessed routes all the way round back to your chosen start/finish location. We will be sending out detailed maps showing suggested car parks near to the route so you can decide where to park.

We will still be based in RSPB Minsmere Reserve where you will be greeted as you ride through our mid-way ‘Welcome Arch’ to collect your medal and grab a nice warm soup and a roll to warm up before you carry on. For the riders completing the 65 mile route that had expected lunch on their route we will be providing catering at RSPB Minsmere so you will receive your lunch as well as a Soup and roll to fuel you on your way. We will be open from 10-4 at RSPB Minsmere for these different services so please plan your ride to arrive between 10-4 depending on where you start from.

We have all worked so hard to overcome a huge variety of issues that have arisen in planning this event, but with numbers increasing daily and the Covid Tiers in adjoining counties being recently upgraded, our priority has to be to keep everyone as safe as possible.

We cannot run the event without the RSPB and local landowners and despite this event far exceeding the Government and British Cycling safety Guidelines for outdoor cycle events, the decision in the end has been theirs and is one that we support.

Thank you for your continued and much appreciated support throughout this difficult year. We are sure you will understand our decision in wanting to be part of the solution, and not add to the spread of Covid.

RSPB Suffolk Go Wild 50/50 Sportive - Covid-19 Compliant

Suffolk’s Wild Coast, with RSPB Minsmere as the beating heart. A network of beautiful wild spaces just waiting to be explored. RSPB Suffolk Go Wild Sportive is the best way to get out on your bike and find these hidden gems. Country lanes, sandy tracks, rooty singletrack, open heath, forest fireroads, vast wetlands, mud, loam, gravel: all to be found on route. The route is perfect gravel bike terrain but suits almost any kind of bike that is home off road – from CX race bikes to bouncy full sussers or your favourite old hardtail, the choice is yours. Just make sure that whatever you choose to ride you don’t mind if it gets wet, muddy and dusty and that it is up to the task.

The  RSPB Minsmere nature reserve is one of the most bio-diverse places in the whole UK, the route will take you through beautiful woodlands and open heathland, internationally important wetland habitats and rolling Suffolk farmland. Our aim is for you to enjoy the wild spaces and hidden gems of the Suffolk coast. You will be passing (amongst other places) 7 RSPB Nature reserves, 3 forestry woodlands, multiple SSSIs and beautiful Suffolk villages.

Three trails are available, 10km, 50km and the full 100km. All start and finish at RSPB Minsmere where there is a café and shop plus family friendly activities, waymarked walking routes and more wildlife than you can shake a stick at. This is an event where the whole family is welcome, either riding the family friendly short route together or waiting for one of your clan to return from the medium or long route while you all enjoy the amazing reserve.
